Mississippi City January 13, 1850 My Dear brother, It is sometime now since I have heard from you, which leaves me rather uneasy altho’ you might expect a letter from me before I received one from you; it is only now that I have got that opportunity, and will expect an answer to this on its arrival, and I hope you will not neglect to do so, as I am anxious to hear from you, give my love to all those who belong to the Church and who are acquainted with me. Give my love to my old friend Violet your wife as I want to hear from her very badly indeed, Give my best respects to Harry Steel and Shaddock Phelps we are looking for him every day as he talks of coming down; hoping he may do so. Also give my best love to Sister Ester Bryne and her family and will write to her as soon as I possibly can, Send me word how the Church is getting on and how it stands, don’t forget sending me the news. Give my love to Charles Phelps and tell him how I long to see the shoes he promised me if it be only to wear them in remembrance of him ------------
